Use the actual trip states
The operational sequence distinguishes UNASSIGNED, ASSIGNED, DRIVER_EN_ROUTE, ARRIVED, PASSENGER_ONBOARD / IN_PROGRESS, and COMPLETED. Assignment does not mean the driver has arrived. Pickup waiting must not begin before ARRIVED, and pickup waiting must not use the scheduled-stop waiting rule.
Arrival, pickup waiting, and no-show
When the driver arrives at the scheduled pickup location, record ARRIVED when available. The pickup waiting period is up to 10 minutes. Attempt passenger contact when appropriate. If the passenger does not appear after the applicable procedure, the driver may use the authorized NO-SHOW workflow and may leave. The passenger no-show fee is $10, is a passenger obligation, and is not driver compensation. The original driver is not required to return.
Scheduled-stop waiting
At a scheduled stop, the first 15 minutes are free. After 15 minutes, waiting is charged at $0.35 per minute. This is separate from pickup waiting and no-show handling. Drivers must not create or negotiate a different waiting charge.
Cancellation and trip changes
Passenger cancellation is classified from the actual recorded state: $0 before assignment, $0 after assignment but before en route, $5 while en route, and $10 after arrival. Destination changes, added stops, and return trips are not automatically cancellations and require applicable fare or trip-detail review. Drivers must not independently promise a new price after a major change.
Exceptions, safety, and documentation
Document incorrect pickup addresses, vehicle failure, emergencies, excessive delay, passenger abandonment, early termination, safety concerns, and other unusual circumstances. Do not charge a passenger for a documented driver/Rydei operational failure or solely because a legitimate safety decision stopped the trip. Escalate situations that are not covered by these rules.
Driver controls and prohibited actions
Drivers must not create their own cancellation fees, change fee amounts, selectively modify official rules, or override official waiting periods without authorized administrative capability. The driver-facing system should distinguish EN ROUTE, ARRIVED, PICKUP WAITING, NO-SHOW, CANCELLED BY PASSENGER, CANCELLED BY DRIVER, and STOP WAITING.
Passenger Solicitation & Off-Book Rides
Rydei drivers are prohibited from soliciting Rydei passengers for rides or transportation services outside of the Rydei platform or approved Rydei booking process.
Prohibited actions
- Ask or encourage a Rydei passenger to book future rides directly with the driver instead of through Rydei.
- Give a passenger their personal transportation business as an alternative to Rydei.
- Accept or perform a ride for a Rydei passenger outside of the approved Rydei booking system.
- Use information obtained through a Rydei ride to obtain private or off-book transportation business.
- Cancel or avoid a Rydei booking in order to perform the ride privately.
- Collect a private fare from a passenger who was obtained through Rydei.
Enforcement
- First confirmed violation: Formal warning. The warning must state that another confirmed violation may result in suspension and permanent removal from Rydei.
- Second confirmed violation: Immediate suspension pending Operations review. If confirmed: Permanent driver account deactivation.
- Serious or intentional violations: Rydei may immediately suspend the driver pending Operations review without first issuing a warning.
Important: Drivers may operate their own independent businesses outside of Rydei. However, they may not use Rydei passengers, Rydei bookings, Rydei customer information, or the Rydei driver relationship to move customers off the Rydei platform.
